Rocky Point Rapid Play and Paddling Skills Practice @ Rocky Point

Join the North East Canoe Club for their regular summer play date at Rocky Point Rapid. Come along for some paddling skills practice, some play and rolling in the rapid and a fantastic social get together on the river bank after. Bring something to share for a very casual picnic dinner after.  If you need boats, please let us know.

If you are a beginner and would like to start out on the river, come along to one of these sessions and we’ll get you on some smooth water to get comfortable in your boat.

We meet between 5.45 and 6pm and paddle until dusk.

If you’re driving from the Alpine Road, turn down the Snow Road towards Milawa and just before the main Ovens River Bridge, turn left down the dirt track and follow the track to a parking area by the river.

Australia Day Family Paddle – Ovens River @ Pioneer Bridges

Enjoy a family paddle on the beautiful Ovens River.  Suitable for canoes and kayaks and all paddling skill levels.  This paddle will take in the section of Pioneer Bridges to Tarrawingee with riverside picnic lunch.  Let us know if you’re coming and bring some lunch to share – Allison 0409964054

8 Week paddling skills course.  Based on Eric Jackson’s YouTube training videos.  This program  would suit beginners or anyone wanting to improve their paddling technique and efficiency.  Boats and equipment can be provided, so please let us know if you are attending.  We are not charging for participation, however we do require participants to be current members of the club and Canoeing Victoria (i.e. full membership of North East Canoe Club, no social members).

Bring some food to share afterwards by the river.

Come and Try Night – Wangaratta @ Frank Garth Reserve

Come and try canoeing and kayaking at the junction pool in the Ovens River at Frank Garth Reserve in Wangaratta.  Everyone welcome, families encouraged, bring your own boats and life-jackets or the club will provide kayaks and canoes to try.  A fun game of water polo may also be on offer if we can find somewhere safe to set up the nets.
